Obituary of Mary E Currie

Mary E. Currie, 88, of Wayne, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2016. Mary was born on February 21, 1927 to the late Joseph R. and Mary (O’Connell) Currie. Mary defied the odds by surviving a childhood injury that left her with profound loss of mobility. She continued to heal and went on to become a highly ranked womans golfer and bowler for the state of the NJ. She was also an office manager for many years and truly enjoyed her time working. With a proud Irish heritage, Mary will always be remembered for telling stories with her keen sense of humor. Mary was the cherished sister of Helen Minetti, Anna Ricciardi, and the late John Currie. She was the adored aunt of Janice Hyer, Joe and John Currie, Cynthia Ricciardi, the late Dean Ricciardi, Russ Minetti, and Dawn Berliner. She was also the very dear cousin and friend to Alice O'Connell and Cathy Capo. Her many great nieces and nephews will cherish the memories and the lessons learned from her vibrant and humorous stories. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3:30-7:30pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday at 10:30am at Our Lady of the Valley Church, 630 Valley Rd., Wayne. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa.
