Obituary of Remigio Agostinelli
Remigio “Ray” Agostinelli, 87, of Boynton Beach, FL, passed away Wednesday March 23, 2016. He is survived by his beloved wife Emma (nee Lucci) of 63 years; his three daughters, Virginia Agostinelli of Morris Township, NJ; Teresa Agostinelli of Delray Beach, FL; Julia Agostinelli Gautschi, and his sole granddaughter, Isabelle Zuri Gautschi both of Fairfax, VA; along with his sisters Fiorentina Garofalo of Woodland Park, NJ; Lena Barone of Woodland Park, NJ; and Josephina Krieger of West Milford, NJ. Predeceasing Remigio is a sister, Concetta Garofalo of Paterson, NJ, and son-in-law Adrian Hans Gautschi of Fairfax, VA.
Remigio was well known as “Ray the Barber”, owner of Ray’s Barber Shop in the Stony Road section of Paterson, NJ for over 40 years.
He was born in Pacentro, Italy on January 31, 1929 to the late Carlos and Virginia Agostinelli and immigrated to the United States in 1950, returning to Pacentro to marry Emma on September 6, 1953. Ray and Emma had resided in Woodland Park, NJ for 53 years before retiring in Boynton Beach, FL in 2013. Ray was an avid gardener and a passionate protector of domestic and farm animals and wildlife.
Memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Avenue, Woodland Park, NJ 07424. A funeral Mass, to be officiated by Pastor Fr. Frank Agresti, will be held on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 9:30AM at Our Lady of Pompeii Roman Catholic Church, 70 Murray Avenue, Paterson, NJ 07501. Burial service will be at Laurel Grove Cemetery and Memorial Park in Totowa, NJ.
