Obituary of Magdalena Mejia

Sr. Magdalena Mejia, p.s.d.p, a Little Sister of the poor for over 75 years, died on June 24, 2016 at the age of 99, at St. Joseph's Home for the Elderly where she has lived for 36 years. Sister was born on September 9, 1916 in Fredonia, Antioquia, Colombia. She made her first religious profession on July 6, 1940 in Zipaquira, Colombia and her Final Profession on November 21, 1944 at St. Anne's Novitiate in Queens, New York. Sister spent her entire religious life in America and at least 30 years as a devoted Sacristan. Viewing will be on Thursday from 2-7pm at St. Joseph's Home for the Elderly. Mass of the Resurrection will be on Friday, July 1st at 11:00am in St. Jugan Chapel at St. Joseph's Home for the Elderly, 140 Shepherd Lane, Totowa, NJ. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 58 McLean Blvd, Paterson, NJ.
