Obituary of Robert L Muccio

Robert Louis Muccio, age 95, formerly of West Paterson/Woodland Park, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2016. Bob was born on Marcellus Avenue in West Paterson, NJ on May 5, 1921 as the eldest son of the late Anthony and Anna (Dittmer) Muccio. He spent his childhood living on Providence Ave. and adulthood on McBride Ave. next to the family business, Tonie's Golden Buffet, opened by his father in 1930. He and his late younger brother Louis (Bubby) eventually owned and operated Tonie's Tavern until 1999. Bob was a World War II veteran and he proudly served in the European Conflict in the U.S. Pigeon Corps from 1942-1945. He was Honorably Discharged and commended with several medals of honor. His love of raising, flying and racing homing pigeons was a lifelong dedication. He was an active member of several local and regional Homing Pigeon Clubs and has contributed to many books and other publications on the history, care, and sport of racing homing pigeons. After returning from service, he married his childhood sweetheart, Victoria (Mickey) Martin of New York on May 11, 1946 at St. Matthew's Church in New York City. Bob was the cherished father of the late Virginia Doyle. He is survived by his youngest daughter Robin Harvan and his granddaughters, Alison Doyle Miller, Tricia Doyle McCambridge, and Anna Harvan. Bob is the treasured great grandfather of Jason, Brian and Sean Miller and Meghan McCambridge. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Monday at 10:15am at St. Bonaventure Church, 174 Ramsey St., Paterson. Guests may arrive at the funeral home at 9:15am. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa.
