Obituary of John J. Ciborski
John J. Ciborski, 92, of Sparta, formerly of Woodland Park, passed away on July 30, 2016. John was born on in Guttenberg, NJ to the late John and Minnie (Kuchner) Ciborski.
John proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force during WWII from 1942-1945. Later, he owned and operated his printing company, J&T Process, in Paterson. John honorably served as Mayor of West Paterson from 1960-1962 and was also a member of the West Paterson Council for 5 years. In addition, he was a Passaic County Parks Commissioner, a lifetime member of both the Passaic County and West Paterson Democratic Clubs, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #240 for 63 years and the Msgr. EE Lange 4th degree Assembly #1562 for 7 years, and a member of the American Legion Post #238 in Woodland Park. As a dedicated parishioner at St. Bonaventure Church, Paterson he and his wife, Googie, were founding members of the Christian Family Movement as well as a trustee for over 30 years.
John was the beloved husband of the late Florence (Snyder) Ciborski (2008), the adored father of John, Jr., Tom and his wife Noreen, Jayne and her husband Bob Savage, Barbara and her late husband Joe Misukonis, and Mary and her husband John Vittozzi, and the cherished grandfather to his 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Rita Claire Dee and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Caroline Tomek and Amelia Minervia.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Avenue, Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday at 10:15am at St. Bonaventure Church, 174 Ramsey St., Paterson. Guests may arrive at the funeral home at 9:15am. Burial will follow at St. Josephs Cemetery, Hackensack.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Bonaventure Church.
