Obituary of Helen Young

Helen Young, 89, of Woodland Park, passed away on September 17, 2016 in her home surrounded by her family. Helen was born on April 21, 1927 in Paterson, NJ to the late Frederick and Gertrude Schmitz. She was a loving homemaker to her children and grandchildren, a member of the Woodland Park Seniors, and a parishioner of St. Bonaventure Church in Paterson. Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Robert H. Young, Sr. and her sisters Gertrude Skawinski and Joan Kolasa. She was the adored mother of Gale Hartline and her husband Tom, Beverly Novak and her late husband George, Robert H. Young III and his wife Lisa, Donald Young and his wife Joan, and Helen M. Young and her beloved companion Robert Mazzo. Helen was the cherished grandmother of Thomas Hartline and his wife Hilary, Michael Hartline, Sindi Sebrell and her husband Chris, Jennifer Franklin and her husband Steve, Jill Hughes and her husband Chris, Tiffany Young, Andrew Hoffman, and Sean Kelly and his wife Valerie, and the great grandmother of 12. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered Friday at 10:15am at St. Bonaventure Church, 174 Ramsey St., Paterson. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa.
