Obituary of Adele Berthold

Adele Berthold (nee Soldoveri), age 95, of Woodland Park, passed away peacefully at her home on December 16, 2016. Born April 22, 1921 in Paterson, NJ to the late Giovanni and Guila (Isoldi) Soldoveri, Adele grew up in Totowa where she attended Memorial School and graduated from Central High School in Paterson in the late 1930’s. She moved to Clifton in 1953 then settled at her current residence in 1966. She worked as a bookkeeper for a textile manufacturer in Clifton until 1963, when she joined the family insurance company, Soldoveri Agency in Totowa, as an office manager, a position held until her 2001 retirement at 80 years old. Adele adored her family. That adoration sometimes represented itself as a baked treat, a homemade trinket for the house, or simply a word of wisdom. She was a parishioner at St. Bonaventure Church in Paterson. She was the beloved wife of the late William Berthold (2001); the cherished mother of William J. Berthold; and the treasured grandmother of William E. and Kathleen Berthold. She was predeceased by her sisters Carmela Cantalupo, Ida Marotta, Margaret Soldoveri and Julia Bruno and her brother John Soldoveri. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park. A funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday at 10:15am at St. Bonaventure Church, 174 Ramsey St., Paterson. Guests may arrive at the funeral home at 9:15am. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa.
