Obituary of Joseph Agnello

Joseph Agnello, 82, of Woodland Park, passed away peacefully at home on January 5, 2017. Joseph was born on July 6, 1934 in Santa Croce Camerina, Sicily, Italy to the late Giovanni and Emanuela (DeRosa) Agnello. In Italy, Joseph was a member of the Carabinieri. After immigrating to America, Joe worked as a barber and opened Joe's Barber Shop in Wayne, NJ where he worked for many years before retiring. He was also a member of the Santa Croce Camerina Society in Hawthorne. Joseph was the beloved husband of Rosetta (Riccardi) Agnello for nearly 51 years. He was the adored father of Emanuela Esposito and her husband Christopher, Patricia Agnello-Cusack and her husband Michael and Giovanna Giordano and her husband Jerry and the cherished grandfather of Nicolas and Francesca Esposito, Michael and John Cusack and Kayla and Jerry, Jr. Giordano. He was predeceased by his sister Giovanna Iurato. Joe is survived by brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews and many relatives in Italy. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-8pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Monday at 10:15am at St. Bonaventure Church, 174 Ramsey St., Paterson, NJ. Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa.
