Leonard Basile

Obituary of Leonard Basile

Leonardo Basile, 93, of Totowa, NJ passed peacefully at home on May 2, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Gloria (Dolcemoscolo) Basile; his daughters Rosalie (Basile) Puzio and her husband Frank, Kathy (Basile) Genchi, and Paula (Basile) Flory and her husband Chuck; and by his grandchildren Vanessa and Keith Billotti, Bianca and Giorgio Innocenti, Jaclyn and Vincent Carpentier, Matthew Flory and Erika Flory; and by his four great grandchildren, Ella, Callie, Allegra, and Brody.

Lenny lived an extraordinary and inspiring life. He was born in Palermo, Sicily in 1924 and emigrated, by himself, to the USA in 1948. His work ethic and brilliant business sense led him from working in a factory to owning his own wildly successful women's outerwear manufacturing business. He loved to travel the world with his beloved wife Gloria. He enjoyed dancing, parties, boating, the sunshine and the sea and most of all spending time with his loving family and extensive group of amazing friends. Lenny was the life of the party, the picture of strength, courage, and perseverance. He will be missed by so many, but his vital and colorful spirit will live on in our hearts forever.

Visitation will be Thursday from 3-8pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Friday at 9:30am at St. James of the Marches Church, 410 Totowa Rd., Totowa, NJ. Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa.
