Obituary of Bruce Thomas MacKenzie
Bruce Thomas MacKenzie, 64, a resident of West Paterson for 60 years, passed away peacefully at home in Glen Rock on June 8, 2017 with his sisters at his side. Bruce was born in Jersey City on May 10, 1953 to the late John and O'Della (Kiernan) MacKenzie. He attended St. Bonaventure's Elementary School and was the first graduating class from Paul VI High School (1971) where he excelled in football, basketball, baseball and academics. Bruce also attended William Paterson University. He worked for a Coca Cola distributor and Maggi Masonry but most recently at Ace Metal Craft in Woodland Park.
Bruce was an avid reader of novels and the newspaper along with spending free time with his close friends at McBride Bar and Liquors, being with his family and watching the Giants, Yankees and Seton Hall games . He was a wonderful kind soul.
He was the cherished brother of Kathleen Kelly and her late husband John, Dale Jasina and her husband Thomas, and John MacKenzie and his late wife Anna May; the treasured uncle of Mack and Brianna Kelly, Thomas Jasina, Jr. and his wife Laura, Jonathan Jasina and his wife Olesja, Christopher Jasina and his wife Theresa and James and Debra MacKenzie; and the great uncle of Thomas, III., Ava, William, Olivia, Kaelyn, Julianna, Jennifer, Kathryn and Kurt.
Memorial visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A memorial Mass will be offered on Tuesday at 10am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 1 Passaic St., Ridgewood, NJ. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery, 748 Schuyler Ave., Kearney, NJ.
