Obituary of Richard Navarro
Richard Navarro, 83, of West Milford, formerly of West Paterson, passed away on June 11, 2017. Richard was born on September 2, 1933 in Manhattan, NY to the late Joseph and Adelaide (Villaplana) Navarro. He proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy during the Korean War from 1951-1955.
Before retiring, Rich worked as a slitting supervisor at Crown Roll Leaf in Paterson. In his spare time, he enjoyed being a member of the Pigeon Flyer West Side Club of Paterson, hunting and fishing and spending time loving his dogs.
He was the beloved husband of the late May (Masker) Navarro; the adored father of Christina Affinito and her husband Peter, Richard J. Navarro and his wife Elaine, Sherry Van Dyk and her husband Joseph, Michael Navarro and his wife Kathleen, Donna Demmert and her husband Nils, Terri Demarest and her husband Thomas and Pamela Gervasi and her husband Thomas; the cherished grandfather of Jason Rausch, PJ and David Affinito, Erin Samples and her husband Brian, Lauren Rendine and her husband Luke, Tracy Byrnes and her husband Christopher, Katelyn McGinn and her husband Steve, Zachary and Rebecca Navarro, Joseph Demmert and his wife Sarah, Troy Demmert, Aimee, Andrew and Brittany Demarest and Stephanie and Nicole Gervasi; and the great grandfather of Matthew and Adam Samples, Brooke and Hannah Rendine, and Christopher and Jenna Byrnes. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and was predeceased by many siblings.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-8pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Avenue, Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Friday at 10:00am at St. Gerard Majella Church, 501 W. Broadway, Paterson. Entombment will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa.
