Obituary of Joseph F Barra

Joseph F. Barra, Jr., age 87, of Toms River, formerly of West Paterson and Paterson, passed away on August 4, 2013. Joseph was born and raised in West Paterson to the late Joseph F. Barra, Sr. and Pearl (nee De Pretto). He proudly served his country as a member of the US Army during WWII from 1944-1946. Joseph was a bus driver after being released from the Army and later retired from NJ Transit in Orange, NJ. He was the beloved husband of the late Marie (nee Doyle), the adored father of Joseph D. Barra, and the treasured grandfather of Zachary J. Barra both of Bayonne, NJ. He was the dear brother of Mable King of West Milford, NJ, Richard Barra of Decatur, IL and the late Marion Applegate of Lockwood, NY and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-8pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral service will be offered on Friday at 9:00am at Santangelo Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Paterson.
