Obituary of Albert Dakar

Albert Dakar, 92, of Guttenberg, NJ, passed away on July 3, 2019. Albert was born in Mersin, Turkey on October 16, 1926 to the late George and Helene (Mansour) Dakar. Before retiring, Albert worked as a self employed customs clearing and shipping agent. He was the beloved husband of the late Anthoula Scopelitis until her passing in 2014. He was the treasured father of Helene Dakar and her husband Nizar Alkouraan, George Dakar, Raymond Dakar and his wife Mariam, and Peter Dakar and his wife Maud and the cherished grandfather of Mary and Nelly Alkouraan, Albert, Litsa, Edmund and George Dakar. Albert is also survived by his brother Edmond Dakar and his wife Virginie, his nieces Maya, Lina and Maha and their families and by beloved members of the Scopelitis family. In addition to his parents and his wife, Albert was predeceased by his brother Raymond and his sister Lydia.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 8th from 5-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park. A funeral service will be offered on Tuesday at 10:00am at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 237 Longhill Rd., Little Falls, NJ. Burial will follow at Grove Reformed Church Cemetery, 1132 46th St., North Bergen, NJ.
