Obituary of Nazario Rivas

Nazario Rivas, 94, of Prospect Park, passed away on July 22, 2019, just 6 days shy of his 95th birthday. He was born on July 28, 1924 in Trujillo, Peru to the late Jose and Margarita (Morillo) Rivas. Before retiring, Nazario worked as a machine operator at A. Zeregas Sons in Fair Lawn, NJ. 

He was the beloved husband of Elsa Rivas (2016); the adored father of Antonia Sangama and her husband Enrique, Soledad Garcia and her husband Onesimo, Raul Rivas, Margarita and her husband Bernardo Peña, Cecilia Bermudez, Manuel Rivas, Beatriz Rodriquez and the late Jose Rivas; and the cherished grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was the dear brother of Isidoro Rivas and the late Juana Rivas and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25th from 5-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, July 26th at 10:00am at St. Gerard Majella Church, 501 West Broadway, Paterson. Guests may gather at Santangelo Funeral Home at 9:00am. Burial will follow the Mass at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa.
