Obituary of Robert "Popsie" Malone

Robert "Popsie" Malone, age 78, of Totowa, formerly of West Paterson, passed away on September 10, 2012. Robert was born in West Paterson to the late Flory and Jennie Malone. He proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Popsie was an avid football player for the Stony Road Tigers, a coach at the West Paterson Boys and Girls Club, and a devoted Redskins Fan. He worked as a mechanic for the Borough of Woodland Park for many years before retiring. Popsie was a life member of the West Paterson Hose Co #2 and an Exempt Fireman. He was the beloved husband of Marlene (nee Hromniak), the treasured father of Kathleen Keeley, Robin Sangastiano and her husband Anthony, Lisa Carioti and her husband Joseph, and Robert Malone, and the adored grandfather of Heather, Shannon and Kevin Keeley, Nichole and Michael Robert Muccio, and Nicholas Sangastiano. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Eleanor Hromniak and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Carmella Ragucci and Patricia Cohen and brothers Benjamin and Floyd Malone. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 9:00am at Santangelo Funeral Home.
