Obituary of Andrew Stillo

Andrea "Andrew or Andy", 91, of West Paterson, passed away on September 16, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 3, 1921 in St. Andrea Apostolo Dello Ionio in Calabria, Italy to the late Bruno Stillo and Maria Vittoria (nee Procopio). Andrew came to the US in November 1937 and resided in Paterson, NJ. In July 1949, he moved to the family home in West Paterson which he helped build with his father and where he resided until his death. Andrew worked for Empire Coast and Co. in Paterson as a sample maker specializing in the manufacturing of women's coats. In 1947, he began working for Joseph Stein in the garment district in NYC where he remained for approximately 30 years until his retirement. While there he made coats for Marilyn Monroe and Patricia Nixon. After his retirement, he continued his passion and made many coats for family and friends. He loved to be in company and to socialize. Andrea was the dear brother of Pierino "Perry" Stillo, Italo "Tony" Stillo and his wife Marcella, and Antoinette Geracitano and her husband Eugenio all of West Paterson. He was the adored uncle of Maria Aguirre and her husband Phil and Teresa Reitmeyer and her husband Wayne and great uncle to Antonio Aguirre and Cristina, Vincent, Gianna and Eric Reitmeyer. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-5 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday at 10:15am at St. Bonaventure Church, 174 Ramsey St., Paterson. Guests may arrive at the funeral home at 9:15am. Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Autism New Jersey, St. Jude Children's Hospital or Hospice of New Jersey at St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital.
