Ida Emolo

Obituary of Ida Emolo

Ida Emolo, 97, of Totowa, passed away at home on April 20, 2020 surrounded by her family.

In loving memory of Ida Emolo (nee Italia Martellacci). Devoted wife of Nicholas “Nick” Emolo (deceased 2002).  Their marriage of fifty-nine years was an inspiration to many.

Ida is survived by her son Nicholas Emolo, and his beloved wife Georgiann. She is also survived by her daughter Nancy. In addition to her two children, Ida was also proud to be the grandmother of three beautiful granddaughters; Diana Schneider of Fogelsville, PA, and her husband Andrew, Melissa Emolo of Jackson, NJ, and Jamie Lepore and her husband Frank of Franklin Lakes. The absolute lights of her life were her seven (soon to be eight!) great grandchildren.  Gabriella, Jake and Grace of Fogelsville, PA, Tyler of Jackson NJ, and Gianna, Nico, Luciano, and highly anticipated Rocco of Franklin Lakes. They truly enriched her already blessed life.

Ida was born in Frosinone, Italy.  At the young age of six, she made the exciting journey to the United States of America. Settling in Paterson with her parents Angelo and Jenny, and her siblings Elvira and Eugene, Ida eventually met and married Nick. They too, initially settled in Paterson.  Ultimately, they relocated to Totowa Boro, where Ida maintained residency. Aside from raising children, Ida worked most of her adult life. She worked as a clerk for Evergreen Liquors in Paterson for many years. However, Broadway Photo, located in Nutley, NJ, is where she worked until retirement. Her expertise and pleasant personality made her a popular employee, great co-worker, and an amazing friend.

Ida was one of those people who left a lasting impression.  She was kind, funny and confident.  Her strong-willed nature and fierce independence served her well for ninety-seven years.

Nana, you live in our hearts…we miss you already. Rest in peace.
