Obituary of Michael "Vannino" Carfi
Michael "Vannino" Carfi, 72, of Elmwood Park, passed away in his home on May 22, 2021. Michael was born in Sicily, Italy on January 14, 1949 to the late Giovanni and Giovanna (Micieli) Carfi. Most recently, he worked in the maintenance department of the Morris County School of Technology in Denville, NJ. He was a member of the San Giuseppe Society in Hawthorne, Club 82 in Lyndhurst and the Scoglitti Club in Elmwood Park. Michael was a devoted parishioner of St. Michael's Church in Paterson where his wife has worked for as a secretary for 30 years.
Vannino was the beloved husband of Palmina (Puzzo) Carfi; the adored father of Giovanni Carfi (Michelle), Anthony Carfi (Mariel) and Michelle Carfi (Matteo Croop); and the cherished grandfather of Michael, Marissa, Melanie and Emily Carfi. He is also survived by his dear sister Lina Cagia as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, May 24, 2021 from 4:00-8:00pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 10:00am at St. Michael's Church, 70 Cianci St., Paterson. Guests meet at the funeral home at 9:00am. Burial will follow the Mass at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Michael's name may be sent to St. Michael's Church, 70 Cianci St., Paterson, NJ 07501.
