The following is "A Tribute to My Mother" written by Lucia Tirone:
My mother's life has been nothing but a time of brokenness and loss. I saw deep within her a woman with a full heart of pain, but yet she was a woman who never showed it, looked gloomy, sad or bitter. A woman who was never jealous of others in any way, fashion or form. A woman who wished everyone well. A woman who never gossiped. A woman with nothing less than kindness in her heart that was reflected in her eyes and face. Was she perfect? No. No one is perfect. But she had many virtuous and beautiful qualities that could have been easily lost in her situation.
While others saw their family grow and proudly bragged about it, she saw her family diminish and yet always wished her friends well. I would hear her ending her conversations by saying in her native language, “Tante belle cose.“ Translated: “Many beautiful things.“ That was my wonderful mother. Always kind, gentle and meek.
She suffered much throughout her life with the loss of my brothers and my father, but through it all she never lost faith in God and never questioned him. I am confident that her reward will be great in Heaven. She passed into eternity in the same manner in which she lived; peacefully on the feast day of The Sacred Heart of Jesus. There is no better testament to her life than that. I am ever so grateful to God for blessing me with such an amazing mother. Truly one of a kind.
Until we meet again, rest in peace, my beautiful mother.
