Obituary of Joseph "JJ" Janicki
Joseph F. Janicki, "JJ", 78, of Totowa, sadly passed away on December 26, 2021 surrounded by love ones. Joseph was born in Luzerne County, PA on January 25, 1943, to the late Joseph Janicki and Julia (Aiello) Janicki. JJ graduated from Paterson General HS in 1960 and served in the United States Army. Later he studied martial arts under Robert Herten at the Herten Family Karate Academy in Woodland Park, NJ (Previously in Totowa, NJ) where he obtained a third-degree black belt and became a martial art/Karate instructor. Before retiring, JJ worked as a drain technician for many years at Advanced Plumbing in Woodland Park, NJ. He was an avid fly fisherman and spent much of his free time fly fishing in the Catskills, NY. He loved gardening and cooking as well. Joe was a phenomenal man with a heart of gold, an exceptionally loyal friend, always willing to help anyone who needed him.
JJ was predeceased by his parents, his brother Matthew and nephew Phillip. He was treasured by his close friends Tommy Eliezer, his wife Solly and their 2 daughters Bella and Mia of Pompton Lakes, Robin Carnevale of Prospect Park, Hank Locker of Woodland Park. He was the beloved cousin of Donna Domin of Hazelton, PA, Robert Munday of Mcadoo, PA. and cherished uncle to Kevin & Bryan Domin.
Visitation will be Monday, January 3rd, 2022 from 4-7pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park.
A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 10:30am at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa.
