Obituary of Julie Ashkar

Julie Ashkar, 49, of Oakland, passed away on January 7, 2022. She was born in Damascus, Syria on January 2, 1973 to her adoring mother Rasmieh Hajjir and father Nabil Khoury, who are both surviving. 

Julie was the beloved wife of Elias Ashkar and treasured mother of Tamara, Sebastian and Daniel Ashkar. She was the dear sister of Samir Khoury and his wife Nabila, Tony Khoury, and Mary Khoury and her husband Antonio Manzi. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews, Vanessa, Elias, Julian, Ibrahim, Jennifer, Dagmar and Feliche and her precious dog and companion, Pluto. 

Julie was currently working as an inside spare parts sales representative at Dassault Falcon Jet in Teterboro, NJ, where she spent many valuable years growing with coworkers she considered family. From Rhode Island to South Hackensack to Oakland, Julie loved and gained the love of those around her wherever she went. Julie valued nothing more than her large loving family and caring friends. 

Visitation will be Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 5:00-9:00pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral service will be offered on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 11:00am at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 237 Long Hill Rd., Little Falls, NJ. Burial will immediately follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa. 

All guests to the funeral home and church are asked to wear a face mask at all times.
