Obituary of Fred A Brusco
Fred A. Brusco, 82, of Woodland Park, formerly West Paterson, passed away on March 3, 2014. Fred was born on December 2, 1931 in Paterson, NJ to the late Augustine and Edna (Schaeffer) Brusco. His father was the owner of Brusco Brothers' Ice Company in Woodland Park.
Fred proudly served his country as a member of the US Army from 1952-1954 earning two Bronze Stars, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal for his honorable service. He was also awarded the Passaic County Distinguished Military Service Medal.
He was a composition roofer with the Local Union #10 of Paterson. In his spare time, Fred was an avid hunter, a home vegetable gardener, a wine maker, a chicken fancier and a Beagle hound breeder.
Fred was the beloved husband of the late Joann L. (Pasciolla) for 57 years. He was the loving father of Fred A. Brusco, Jr., Jeffrey A. Brusco and his wife Kathleen, and Joan A. Bunda and her husband Peter. He was the adored grandfather of Michael Brusco, his fianc Jaynie and her daughter Cheyann, Christine, Frank and Jeffrey Brusco and Jessica and Jennifer Bunda. He was predeceased by his sister Claire Scalzitti. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park. A funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, at 9:30am at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 70 Murray Ave., Paterson. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa.
