Obituary of Elvira Polifonte

Elvira Polifonte (nee DeMarco), age 88, of Woodland Park, died peacefully at home with her loving family at her side on October 4, 2012. She was born on July 6, 1924 and was raised in Ponte Serino P. Avellino Italy to the late Gennero and Lucia DeMarco. She was the 6th child out of 7. She came to America in 1955 to raise her family. She lived in Paterson for 20 years before settling in Woodland Park, NJ. She was a homemaker and very dedicated to her family. Elvira was always a very happy always smiling lady who loved to be around people. She was always there to lend a helping hand especially when children were around. Even in her last days, she would light up when she saw her grandchildren and great grandchildren come in the room. Elvira loved to get dressed up, she was always in high heels and had her jewelry on, this passion started as a young girl. One of her favorite things in life to do was pick four leaf clovers. She enjoyed this pastime with her grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband Pantaleone Leo Polifonte of 61 years, her daughter Maria and her husband Pellegrino Vincenti, her son Joseph and his wife Silvana Polifonte, and her son Anthony and his wife Judy Polifonte. She was the treasured grandmother of Francesco and his wife Deena Vincenti, Leo and his wife Lori Polifonte, Nicola and his wife Gina Vincenti, Joseph and Michael Polifonte and Elvira and Nicolette Polifonte and the great grandmother of Christopher, Arianna, Matthew, Francesco, Kayla, Gabriella, Sofia, Antonia, and Marco. She will be sadly missed and forever in our hearts. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park. A funeral Mass will be offered on Monday at 9:00am at St. Bonaventure Church, 174 Ramsey St., Paterson. Guests may arrive at the funeral home at 8:30am. Entombment will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa.
