Obituary of Pantaleone "Leo" Polifonte

Pantaleone "Leo" Polifonte, age 87, of Woodland Park, died suddenly at home on November 5, 2012. He was born on October 4, 1925 to the late Antonio and Maria Guiseppa Polifonte and was raised in Canale Serino P. Avellino Italy. He was the oldest of 3 children. He came to America in 1955 and lived in Paterson for 20 years before settling in Woodland Park, NJ. He worked hard to support his family. He was a very skilled man. He worked in a dye house; he was a barber, a shoe maker, and a machinist. Leo was always a happy man singing and listening to music. His passion in life was his garden. He was very proud of his sauce and wine. He is preceding the death of his wife Elvira Polifonte who passed away Oct. 4, 2012. They shared 61 happy years of marriage together. He was the treasured father to Maria Vincenti and her husband Pellegrino, Joseph Polifonte and his wife Silvana, and Anthony and his wife Judy. He was a loving grandfather to Francesco Vincenti and his wife Deena, Leo Polifonte and his wife Lori, Nicola Vincenti and his wife Gina, Joseph and Michael Polifonte and Elvira and Nicolette Polifonte. He also had 9 great grandchildren: Christopher, Arianna, Matthew, Francesco, Kayla, Gabriella, Sofia, Antonia, and Marco. He is survived by his brother Generoso Polifonte and many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed and forever in our hearts xoxo. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Friday at 9am at St. Bonaventure Church, 174 Ramsey St., Paterson. Entombment will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa.
