Obituary of Josephine Bastante

Josephine Bastante (nee Jacene), age 90, of Wayne, formerly of Paterson, passed away on December 11, 2012. She was born in Johnstown, PA to the late Frank and Josephine Jacene. Josephine was a loving homemaker to her many children and grandchildren. She was also a parishioner at Our Lady of Pompeii where she was also a member of the Seniors and the Rosary Society. She was also a lifetime member of the PTA. Josephine was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore Bastante. She was the treasured mother of Carmela Glassman and her husband Cecil, Carmen Bastante and his wife Joan, Josephine Ferguson and her husband Ted, Fran Tarsitano and her husband James and Pauline Tiers and her husband Bob. She was the adored grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was the dear sister of Carmen Jacene and his wife Margaret and was predeceased by her brother Anthony Jacene and sisters Rose Jacene and Pauline Dowling. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park. A funeral Mass will be offered on Friday at 9:30am at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 70 Murray Ave., Paterson. Guests may arrive at the funeral home at 8:30am. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa.
