Obituary of Arthur Sorrentino

Arthur Sorrentino, age 78, of West Paterson, died September 4, 2008. He was born on December 15, 1929 in the Stoney Road section of Paterson where he was raised. He moved to West Paterson in 1959 with his wife Angela and daughter Joanne. Arthur resided in West Paterson until his passing. Arthurs wife, Angela, predeceased him on December 3, 2000. He served in the United States Army and was a proud veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 238, West Paterson and was the Post Commander for several years. He was a skilled butcher by trade. He loved spending time with his daughter, Joanne, her husband Jim Day and grandchildren Anthony and Kathleen,who absolutely adored their grandfather. He loved good food, all things Italian, clock making, deep sea fishing with his buddies from the American Legion, going to the gym and spending time with his brother Alfred and his wife, Emma and sisters-in-law Marie and Chettie. Art touched so many lives and was loved by all. Arthur leaves behind his beloved daughter, Joanneand her husband James Day, hisgrandchildren, Anthony and Kathleen Day, his brother, Alfred Sorrentino, his sisters-in-law, Emmaand their sons Alfred and Philip. He also leaves Marie Sorrentino (wife of Albert) and Chettie Sorrentino (wife of Lawrence) and their daughter, Elaine, and all his beloved great nieces, nephews and friends. His mother and father, Alfonso and Guiseppina, sister Florence and brothers, Albert, Lawrence and Carmen predeceased him. He will live forever in our hearts and may dwell in the house of the Lord. Visiting will be Thursday, 7-9 pm and Friday 2-4 and 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Avenue, West Paterson, NJ 07424. Guests may arrive at Santangelo Funeral Homeon Saturday at8:30 amto proceed to thefuneral masswhich willbegin at 9:30am at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, Paterson. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa.
