Obituary of Michael Hruska
Michael Hruska, age 89, of West Paterson died Thursday, October 2, 2008. He was born in Pennsylvania. Beloved husband to Helen (nee Chukinas). Cherished father to Geraldine Weinberg, Elaine Hruska, and Lawrence Hruska and his wife Carol. Dear grandfather to 4 grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Michael had many occupations throughout his life but before retiring, he worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Little Falls and West Paterson. Michael served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of West Paterson American Legion Post # 238. He was a member of the Montclair Barber Shop Chorus. He was a parishioner of St. Bonaventure Church, Paterson. He may have been best known for volunteering his time to help others. He had a daily route of delivering day-old bagels to those who needed them most. He also converted his garage into a source for clothing that was boxed and sent to Hurricane Katrina survivors.
Visiting hours will be Sunday, October 5, from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 Mc Bride Ave, West Paterson, NJ and Tuesday, October 7, from 10:00-11:00 AM at St. Ann's Church, 574 Bennett Street, Luzerne, PA. A funeral mass will follow on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. Ann's Church, 574 Bennett Street, Luzerne, PA. Burial will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Kingston, PA following mass.
