Obituary of Anthony "Chub" Belford
Anthony R. "Chub" Belford, 84, of Hamilton, formerly of Paterson, passed away February 6, 2009. Born and raised in Paterson, he resided in Clifton, Wayne, Hawthorne and Florida before moving to Hamilton in 1999. Chub was employed by William Paterson University for over 28 years in many capacities including his last position as Engineer-in-Charge of Building Maintenance and Grounds before retiring in 1981. A WWII veteran, he served for 3 years in the US Navy, seeing action in the Asiatic-Pacific and European Theatres as a member of the USN Armed Guard. Chub is survived by his wife of 62 years, Phyllis; daughter Christine Siemientkowski and her husband Art of Princeton; his son Anthony "Buzz" and his wife Theo of Lake Worth, Florida; sister Isabel Negrotto; granddaughters Kristen & Courtney Belford; and thirteen nieces and nephews. Visiting will be Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park. A funeral mass will be Tuesday, 9:30am at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, Paterson. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa.
