Obituary of Joseph Peter Trawinski

Joseph Peter Trawinski, age 81, of West Paterson, passed away suddenly on January 12, 2013. He was born in Wallington, NJ to the late Joseph and Caroline Trawinski. Joseph proudly served the United States as a member of the US Army during the Korean War. He later worked as a research chemist at Hoffman LaRoche for over 40 years before retiring. Joseph was a member of the American Legion Post # 238 in West Paterson, the Bicentennial Committee in West Paterson, and the West Paterson Historical Society. He was a parishioner at St. Bonaventure Church where he was the Awards Chairman for Boy Scout Troop #39. He was the beloved husband of Fran (nee Scalla) for over 51 years. He was the treasured father of LTC (ret.) Mark Trawinski, MD and his wife Christina, Lori Trawinski and her partner Patricia Connelly and Mary Trawinski Mupo and her husband Scott. He was the adored grandfather of Caroline and Catherine Trawinski and Aaron Jake and Joanie Mupo who were the greatest joy of his life. He was the dear brother of Irene Nieradka and the late Robert Trawinski. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday at 10:15am at St. Bonaventure Church, 174 Ramsey St., Paterson, NJ. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa, NJ. Memorial donations may be sent to the West Paterson First Aid Squad or to the West Paterson Fire Department.
