Obituary of Josephine Karas

Josephine Karas (nee Suberati), age 96, of Totowa, passed away December 26, 2009. She was born in Pennsylvania and worked as a seamstress before retiring. She was a parishioner of St. James R.C. Church in Totowa and a member of the Totowa Seniors. She was also a member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union. Her caring and generous manner is what defined her and made her the unique and special woman that was loved by all. Her love for her children and grandchildren was her true passion. She was a deeply cherished mother to Violet Karas, Peter Karas and his wife Martha and her late son Edward. Adored grandmother to Debra, Russell, Kathy, Edward and Ricky, great grandmother to Krista, David, and PJ and great-great grandmother to Sophia and Lorenzo. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 9:30am at St. James R.C. Church, 32 St. James Pl., Totowa. Guests may arrive at the funeral home at 8:30am. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa.
