Obituary of Laurence Dorning

Laurence A. Dorning, of Woodland Park for over 63 years, passed away February 27, 2010 weeks shy of his 98th birthday. He was born in Paterson to the late John and Catherine Dorning. He worked over 49 years as an engineering technician for Curtis Wright and was a union member of the UAWCIO. He served as chief of the Auxiliary Police for Civil Defense in West Paterson from 1961 to 1984. He was the devoted husband for 63 years to Antoinette "Ann" Dorning (nee DeVito) and adored father to Laurence G. Dorning. He was predeceased by his brother Daniel Dorning and sister Helen Krieger. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park. A funeral Mass will be held Thursday 9:00am at St. Bonaventure Church, 174 Ramsey St., Paterson. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa.
