Obituary of Thomas Eugene Barton

Thomas Eugene Barton, age 88, of Woodland Park, passed away on April 2, 2010. He proudly served his country as a member of the US Army during World War II and was honorably discharged as a disabled veteran. He later became a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #240 in West Paterson and a member of the Disabled American Veterans in Passaic. He was a resident of West Paterson since 1957 where he served his town as one of the founders of the West Paterson First Aid Squad. He was a parishioner at St. Bonaventure Church in Paterson. He was the devoted husband to Catherine (nee Hellrigel) for over 64 years. He is also survived by his sister Margaret Dable and her family as well as many nieces and nephews; MaryAnn Hellrigel, Michael Hellrigel and his wife Maria, Patricia Rosien and her husband John, Jennifer Remington and her husband Jon, Lawrence LaCorte and his wife Lynn, Laura Ezzi and her husband Robert, Mark LaCorte and his wife Leslie and their families. Visiting will be Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Avenue, Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday 10:15am at St. Bonaventure Church, 74 Ramsey Street, Paterson. Guests may arrive at the funeral home at 9:15am. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa.
