Obituary of Elizabeth Chetnik
Elizabeth Chetnik (nee Bober), age 83, of Woodland Park, passed away April 9, 2010 in her home. She was born in Poland and at the age of 15 was taken to a World War II Labor Camp in Germany after which she was eventually able to emigrate through the help of a Catholic relief organization. In America, she began a new life where she met her husband and began to raise her family. As a devoted homemaker she also worked as a seamstress in various locations. She was a parishioner of St. Bonaventure Church in Paterson.
She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony J. Chetnik. Loving mother to Jadwiga Chetnik, Patricia Sunday, Anthony M. Chetnik and his wife Soledad and Richard Chetnik and his wife Ellyn. She was the dear grandmother to Francesca, Jason, Erika, Claudia, Diego, Kelsey, and Daniel and great grandmother to Jorge and Joaquin. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and other relatives still living in Poland.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be held Monday, 9:00am at St. Bonaventure Church, 174 Ramsey St, Paterson. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa.
