Obituary of Salvatore Sofia

Salvatore A. Sofia, 75, of Woodland Park, passed away on February 17, 2013. He was born in Newark, NJ to the late Salvatore and Rose Sofia. He was a member of the Army Reserve and a proud graduate of Barringer High School in Newark and Rutgers University. He worked as an F-15 Program Manager at Honeywell in Teterboro, NJ for many years before retiring. Sal was a parishioner at Our Lady of the Holy Angels Church in Little Falls. He was the beloved husband of Ida (nee Maffetone) for over 47 years. He was the cherished father of Gary Sofia and his wife Lisa, Salvatore Sofia and his wife Joanne, and Stacy Sofia. He was the adored grandfather of Anthony, Michael, Juliana, Thomas, Joseph, and Dominic Sofia and Angelina and Vincent Licor. He was the dear brother of Joseph and Anthony Sofia and is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and close friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered Thursday at 9:00am at Our Lady of the Holy Angels, 465 Main St., Little Falls. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
