Obituary of Sahid Darakjy

Sahid "Al" Darakjy, age 84, formerly of Manahawkin and Livingston, passed away on March 5, 2011. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II. He later worked for Capital Ring in Newark before retiring. He was a member of the Old Guard and Civic Organization in Stafford. He was also a member of The Grand Lodge of NJ and the Livingston Lodge #11. He was a devoted parishioner to the Assyrian Orthodox Church of Virgin Mary in Paramus for many years. He was the beloved husband to the late Marilyn (nee Ehrhardt). He was the treasured father to Cynthia Davatelis and her husband Andrew. He was the adored grandfather to Drew and Daniel Davatelis. He is also survived by his niece Karen McDonough and nephew Robert Nashmy and their families. He was predeceased by his sister Josephine Nashmy. Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Avenue, Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered Tuesday at 10am at Assyrian Orthodox Church of Virgin Mary in Paramus. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park in Kenilworth, NJ.
