Obituary of Theodora I Gorde

Theodora I. Gorde, (nee Zwirek), 97, of Woodland Park, passed away on February 21, 2013. Theodora was born in Korn Krest, PA to the late John and Martha Zwirek. She proudly served the US as a member of the Navy during WWII from 1943-1945 where she met her husband of 66 years, Reuben "Rube" Gorde. Theodora later attained her Bachelor's degree from Misericordia University in Dallas, PA and worked as a teacher for the Paterson school system for many years before retiring. She was a parishioner at Our Lady of Pompeii Church in Paterson. In her spare time she enjoyed playing piano and singing and was a nutritional advocate. She was the adored wife of Reuben Gorde and the treasured mother of Richard Gorde. She was the dear sister of John Zwirek and his wife Jean and was predeceased by Ann, Edmund, Cecelia, Josephine and Louis and Aunt Teddy to many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 8-9am at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park. A funeral Mass will follow on Wednesday at 9:30am at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 70 Murray Ave., Paterson. Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa.
