Obituary of Gilbert P Ewald

Gilbert P. Ewald, age 85, of Woodland Park, passed away on July 29, 2011. Born and raised in Queens, NY, he resided in Woodland Park for over 50 years. He served in the United States Army Air Force from 1944-1946. He was an aeronautical engineer working for Walter Kidde in Belleville, NJ and Wilson, NC until retiring in 1993. He was a parishioner at St. Bonaventure Church in Paterson, NJ. He was predeceased by his wife, Gladys, and his son, Mark. He is survived by his son Richard Ewald and his wife Wendy of Manalapan and his son Paul Ewald and his wife Diane of Budd Lake. He was the beloved grandfather to Danielle Maneri, Eric Ewald, and Andrew Ewald. He was the dear brother to Virginia Sachs of East Meadow, NY and the loving uncle to Celeste and Nicolas Sachs. Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 9:30am at Santangelo Funeral Home. Guests may arrive at the funeral home 8:30am. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa.
