Obituary of Dorothy De Block

Dorothy M. De Block, age 72, a lifelong resident of West Paterson, passed away on August 26, 2011. She was born in Paterson, NJ to the late Lambert and Dorothy De Block. Dorothy worked as a registered nurse for many years, most recently at Green Hill in West Orange. Dorothy regularly enjoyed wind jamming along the Maine Coast aboard the Roseway and American Eagle Schooners, participating in Op-Sail 76 and 86, in addition to being an avid Scrabble player and dedicated Yankee fan. She was also former youth softball coach with the West Paterson Recreation Commission and a volunteer for the former Civil Defense Department in West Paterson. She was the beloved sister of James De Block and his wife Vicky and the dear aunt of Robert De Block and his fianceé Renee Madail and Victoria Bonaccorso and her husband Francis. She is also survived by her sister in law, Dorothy, and was predeceased by her brother John. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral service will be offered on Friday at 10am at Santangelo Funeral Home. Guests may arrive at 9am. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa.
