Obituary of Vincenza "Vinnie" Simone

Vincenza "Vinnie" Simone (nee Longobardi), age 88, a resident of Woodland Park for 65 years, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family. Vinnie was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Enrico and Sofia Longobardi. In addition to her role as a homemaker, she was a member of the West Paterson Senior Citizens and was their recording secretary for many years. Vinnie was a very creative woman who enjoyed painting and writing poetry, winning 1st prize for her poetry at the age of 85. Vinnie was the beloved wife of the late Michael J. Simone and the treasured mother of Michael Simone, Jr. and his wife Valerie, Phillip Simone and his wife Marlene, and Richard Simone and his wife Karen. She was the adored grandmother to 6 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was the dear sister to Fred Longobardi, Lucia "Lu" Moussab, and Anna Galati as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Gennaro and Louis Longobardi. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Monday at 9:30am at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 70 Murray Ave., Paterson. Guests may arrive at the funeral home at 8:30am. Cremation will be private by the request of the family.
