Obituary of Edward J Peer

Edward I. Peer, Jr., 94, of Woodland Park, passed away on March 27, 2014. Edward was born on Sept. 10, 1919 in West Paterson to the late Caroline and Edward Peer, Sr. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army during WWII. Later, he followed in his father's footsteps and served as a member of the West Paterson Fire Department. He was a self-employed plumber until he retired. Edward was the beloved husband of the late Delma (Sutherland). He was predeceased by his daughter, June DiStegano and his son Edward Peer, III. He is the adored grandfather of Heather Brady and her husband Michael and Mary Peer and great grandfather of Sophia and Maya Brady. Edward is also survived by his son-in-law Frank DiStefano. He was the dear brother of June Rosewall and Elmer, Anna, William, Freddie, Howard, Gloria, and Dorothy Peer and is survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00-5:00pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave. Woodland Park, NJ 07424. Cremation will be private by the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations for Edward may be sent to the American Legion Post #238, Woodland Park, NJ 07424.
