Obituary of Mary Saunders

Mary Saunders (nee Russano), 96, of Wayne, formerly of Paterson, passed away on May 3, 2014. Mary was born in North Bergen, NJ on September 10, 1917 to the late Michael and Margherita (Rivello) Russano. Mary was a parishioner at Our Lady of Pompeii Church in Paterson where she was also a member of its Seniors Group, a member of the Riverside Vets Womens' Auxiliary, and worked most recently in the accounting department at Wachovia Bank. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Charles Saunders. She was the cherished mother of Margaret Zayac and Patricia Tabeek and her husband Ralph, the adored grandmother of 8 and great grandmother of 5. She was the dear sister of Frances Engelbrecht and the late Jerry, Josephine and Anna. Mary is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday at 9:30am at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 70 Murray Ave., Paterson. Guests may arrive at the funeral home at 9:00am. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa.
