Obituary of Nino D Ponzi

Nino Domenico Ponzi, 90, of West Paterson, passed away on May 2, 2014. He was born in San Lorenzo, Abruzzo, Italy. Nino spent his earlier life in Abruzzo and Rome working in farming, mining and construction. He immigrated to the US in the 1950's to live the American dream. He learned the trade of masonry and was a member of the Local BAC for 30+ years before retiring. Nino enjoyed life! He loved God, people, gardening, wine making and his wife's pasta aglio olio with peperoncino. Nino was the devoted son of the late Giuseppe and Elena Ponzi. He is survived by his loving wife, Siliva (Cococcia); his devoted children, Joseph, Helen and her partner, John Palchynsky and his daughter, Emanuela Gubitosa and her husband, Steven. He is also survived by three loving grandchildren, Danielle, Ryan and Marissa. He was the dear brother of Ricardo Ponzi, the late Lora Totoli and their children. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ 07424. A funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday at 10am at Our Lady of the Holy Angels Church, 465 Main St., Little Falls. Guests may arrive at the funeral home at 9am. Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa.
