Obituary of Mae T David

Mae David (nee Johnstone), 95, of Little Falls, formerly of Woodland Park, called by God on her birthday, June 2, 2014. Mae was born in Paterson, NJ on June 2, 1919 to the late James and Mary (Spence) Johnstone and graduated from St. John's High School in 1936. She married her sweetheart, Robert "Smokey" David and moved to West Paterson where she resided for 48 years. They were married 76 years when Robert was called to his final resting place on January 31, 2013. Mae was the beloved mother of Beverly Bennett and Robert J. David, Jr. and partner Karin Sciacca. She was the cherished grandmother of Tracy Kallert and Chuck Cammarata, Kelly Lawson and her husband Ian, Mark Bennett and his wife Roberta, Cheryl Savittieri and her husband Joseph, David Bennett and his wife Malina, Robert J. David, III and his wife Lynn, Deborah David and her husband Omar. Adored by her great-grandchildren Marco, Joey, Brooke, Sydney, Lauren, Katie, Gianna, Maria, Michael and Renee. Mae is survived by many nieces and nephews. Mae loved to sew, go to Bingo, read romance novels, but most of all loved spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church in Paterson and the West Paterson Seniors for many years. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday at 10:15am at St. Bonaventure Church, 174 Ramsey St., Paterson. Guests may arrive at the funeral home at 9:15am. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa.
