Obituary of Peter Joseph Kearns

Peter Joseph Kearns, 79, of Totowa, NJ died September 1st, 2014. Peter, son of Peter Francis and Catherine Kearns, and loving husband of 49 yrs to Margaret Kearns, passed away on Sept 1st, at the home of his daughter in Mountain Lakes where they were celebrating Labor Day. He had a weakened heart from several heart attacks. He died peacefully during a day when he had a final chance to enjoy the love and companionship of his family. He is survived by his wife Margaret, and three children, Margherita, Marialena her husband John Droggitis, and Peter and his wife Ana. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Peter John, Catherine, James, Oliver, Adam, and Sophia. Also by his sister Ronnie and brother-in-law Ed. Kearns served his country as a military veteran. As an entrepreneur he founded and operated FeatherEdge drywall for more than 20 years. He cared much for his country and closely followed politics. He was an avid reader and sports fan. While generally introverted and fiercely independent in his thinking, he was well known and appreciated for his sharp wit. He will be greatly missed by his immediate family, nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be held this Thursday, Sept 4th at Santangelo’s Funeral Home at 7pm-9pm in Woodland Park. A funeral Mass will be offered in Friday at 9:30am at St. James of the Marches Church, Totowa. Private cremation to follow.
