Obituary of Nicholas Joseph Melendez

Nicholas Joseph Melendez, 35, of Woodland Park, tragically passed away on September 11, 2014. Nicholas was born on February 18, 1979 in Paterson, NJ to Kathleen (Peterson) and Orlando Melendez. He attended Passaic Valley High School and worked most recently as a field director for Red Wing Electric in Fairfield. Nicholas is the cherished father of Amanda Melendez, the adored son of Kathleen and Orlando Melendez, the treasured grandson of Kathleen Payne and Gladys Vasdquez and the dear brother of China Marie Vargas, Ashton Verhaaren, Melissa Aldarondo and Orlando "Jay" Melendez. He is also survived by his niece Haven Vargas, many aunt s, uncles, and cousins who will miss him dearly. Nicholas was also a proud member of the Totowa Elks and was a devoted fan of the NY Mets and the NJ Devils. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-8pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park. A funeral Mass will be offered on Monday at 10:15am at St. Bonaventure Church, 174 Ramsey St., Paterson. Cremation will be private by the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Nicholas's family.
