Obituary of Agnes "Aggie" Garlewicz

Agnes "Aggie" Garlewicz (nee Hayek), 94, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, passed away on November 17, 2014. Agnes was born on December 31, 1919 in Paterson to the late Wahdeh and Nihemeh Hayek. She worked for many years as a textile worker in various factories in Paterson. In addition to working, Agnes was an active parishioner at St. Ann Melkite Church in Woodland Park, a member of the Elks in Totowa and the American Legion in Paterson, and a volunteer for Toys for Tots in Paterson. Aggie was the beloved wife of the late Emil F. Garlewicz (2003). She was the treasured mother of Kathee Strivelli and her husband Mike, Emil Garlewicz and his wife Patrice, and Daniel Garlewicz and his wife Christine. She was the adored grandmother of 10 and great-grandmother of 11. She was predeceased by her sisters Ann Jacob, Lillian Tahan, Catherine Nahass and Helen Massood and her brother Jack. She is the dear sister-in-law of Michael Massood, Marie Hayek, and Florence and Carol Garlewicz. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral service will be offered on Friday at 10:00am at St. Ann Melkite Church, 802 Rifle Camp Rd., Woodland Park, NJ 07424. Guests may arrive at Santangelo Funeral Home at 9:00am. Cremation will be private by the request of the family.
