Obituary of Giovanni Pietro Gambino

Giovanni Pietro Gambino, 43, of Woodland Park, passed away on December 7, 2014 peacefully in his home. Giovanni was born on January 20, 1971 in Paterson, NJ. Most recently, Giovanni worked at Tommy's Taste of Italy in Woodland Park. He was also an avid Giants football fan. Giovanni was the beloved husband of Tea (Duduchava) Gambino, the cherished father of Pietro "Peter" and Giovanni "JonJon" Gambino, and the adored son of Giuseppina (Passero) and the late Pietro Gambino. He was the dear brother of Maria Gambino, Rosanna Smeragliuolo and her husband Tommy and the late Giovanni Gambino. He is also survived by his aunt Anna Piscitelli and her husband Anthony, Uncle Mario Pane and many more aunts and uncles in Italy. He will also be missed by his cousins Frank Piscitelli and his wife Doreen, Eva Peransi and her husband Mike, Madeline Preta and her husband Enzo, Rosanna Sabino and her husband Jon, Sandra Pane, Nina Defrenza, Paolo Povolo and his wife Silvia, all of their families, and many more in Italy. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Friday at 9:30am at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 70 Murray Ave., Paterson. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Paterson. I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one, I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave behind when day is done.
