Obituary of Carmela Manista

Carmela Manista (nee Portella), 98, of Woodland Park, passed away on March 30, 2015. Carmela was born in NYC on November 5, 1916 to the late Vincenzo and Lizabeta (D'Ambrosio) Portella. Carmela was a loving homemaker to her husband, children and grandchildren. She was the beloved wife of the late John Manista. She was the cherished mother of Ken Manista and his wife Carol and Deborah Bishoff. Carmela was the adored grandmother of Laura Swanson, Sarah Manista, Justine Bishoff, Gregory Bishoff, Jr. and his wife Kelly and the great grandmother of Julia Swanson, Victoria Carmela Yin, and Gregory John Bishoff. She was the dear sister of Lena Rinaldi and Mary Perrota and was predeceased by her sisters Rae Honorato and Natalie Vuy and brothers Alex, Michael, Frank and Louis Portella. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 &7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park. A funeral service will be offered on Wednesday at 10:00am at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 45 Urban Club Rd., Wayne, NJ. Cremation will be private by the request of the family.
