Obituary of Pierino "Perry" Stillo

Pierino “Perry” Stillo, 87, of West Paterson passed away at his home on May 22, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 22, 1927 in St. Andrea Apostolo Dello Ionio in Calabria, Italy to the late Bruno Stillo and Maria Vittoria (nee Procopio). Perry came to the US in February 1947 and resided in Paterson, NJ. In July 1949, he moved to the family home in West Paterson which he helped build with his father and where he resided until his death. Perry was the dear brother of Italo “Tony” Stillo and his wife Marcella, Antoinette Geracitano and her husband Eugenio and the late Andrew Stillo all of West Paterson. He was the adored Uncle to Maria Aguirre and her husband Phil and Teresa Reitmeyer and her husband Wayne and Great Uncle to Antonio Aguirre and Cristina, Vincent, Gianna, and Erik Reitmeyer. Perry attended night school after arriving to the US. In 1949, he began working as a tailor for Bernstein & Sons in Paterson. In 1961 he switched to his other trade, and worked as a barber for Bruno’s Barber Shop in Little Falls. In 1970 he went to work in Pompton Lakes at another Bruno’s Barber Shop until he retired in 1980. Perry was an avid proud gardener. He liked to cook, go fishing, enjoyed listening to Big Band music, watching sports, but most of all he adored his 2 nieces. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2–5 & 7–9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 10:15 am at St. Bonaventure Church, 174 Ramsey St, Paterson. Guests may arrive at the funeral home at 9:15am. Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa.
