Obituary of Gennaro "Jerry" Celentano
Gennaro "Jerry" Celentano, 90, of Paterson, passed away on June 20, 2015. Jerry was born in Newark, NJ on November 3, 1924 to the late Gennaro and Sophia Celentano. He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. He worked for many years as a teamster truck driver, retiring from Holmes. He was also a member of the Totowa Elks. Jerry was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor (DeLuca) Celentano. He was the cherished father of Jerry Celentano and his wife Paula, Mary Ziskin and her husband Bob and Eleanor Celentano and the treasured grandfather of Alaura, Alisa, and Joseph Celentano, Melanie Berninger and Jessica, Jacob, Jordan and Jamie Ziskin and great grandfather of Zachary and Brooke Berninger. He was the dear brother of Frank, Joe, Jimmy, John, Annie and Mary and the late Tom, Tony and Clementine and he is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park. A funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday at 10:15am at St. Bonaventure Church, 174 Ramsey St., Paterson. Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa.
